We got up early and were down in the lounge where the shows were (the Amber Palace) by 7 a.m. Apparently since we were in a suite and were VIPs we also got to disembark with the first group. Everything went smoothly (likely because we were the first off the ship), but when we entered the terminal alarms started going off which were loud and a bit scary. Finally we were told everyone needed to evacuate the building. We had just gotten to the baggage claim area and Keith saw our bags and grabbed them and we headed out of the terminal. We were the lucky ones – others waited outside for more than an hour for the terminal to be cleared so they could go back inside and claim their luggage, and many more were stuck on the ship. We never found out what happened but there were plenty of police cars present.

We found the Cocoa Beach Shuttle right away but once again, things were frustrating. They wouldn’t leave with just us in tow so we stood around for a good 90 minutes. Finally another shuttle from the company picked us up to take us to the airport. After a 45-minute ride, we attempted to check our bags but discovered it was too early. So we lugged everything to a public area of the terminal and sat down on benches. We got something to eat and drink and simply people-watched for a couple hours. Finally we could check our bags and did so. We flew Air Tran and were very glad we had paid extra for Business Class as the line for the rest of the seats was outrageous. Of course, we were in no rush. We went through security and had a leisurely lunch at an OutBack Steakhouse before going to our gate.
